At Weatherford Regional Hospital, the Medical Surgical Unit offers a family atmosphere in caring for you and your loved ones. We take pride in serving our area like they were members of our own family. The Medical Surgical Unit offers private rooms that were built with patient and family comfort in mind.
Swingbed services
Weatherford Regional Hospital participates in the Medicare certified Swing Bed program which provides post-acute, extended skilled care services following a three day (at least) acute care admission. This level of nursing and/or physical therapy rehabilitation requires a physician’s order from the Weatherford Regional Hospital’s active medical staff. Patient’s often return to WRH for an inpatient swing bed stay, on the Medical Surgical Unit, following orthopedic, general surgical procedures, stroke or other diagnosis that they need more time to recover. This allows patients to be close to home and/or loved ones during their rehabilitation process.
Swing Bed generally qualifies for Medicare coverage with the following specific conditions.
- Your Swing Bed care must be related to an acute hospital stay
- You must need skilled nursing or skilled rehabilitative services on a daily basis, and must be complex enough that services must be performed by or under the supervision of professional or technical personnel.
- You must have had a three day qualifying stay in an acute care setting in the past 30 days
Each patient’s length of stay varies depending on the level of care you need.
YES – You have the option to request where you would like to receive your swing bed care. You may choose to be discharged to Weatherford and be closer to your family and friends during your recovery. Please let your discharge nurse know your wishes.
